This is my review of some of the stories in the El Paso Sunday Times of September 9, 2007.

The first thing to report is that three soldiers who were stationed in Ft Bliss, TX, which is in El Paso, TX lost their lives in Iraq.

They are Lee C. Wilson of Chapel Hill, NC, Cpl Jason J. Hernandez of Streetsboro, Ohio, and Cpl Thomas L. Hilbert of Venus, Texas.

In the story named Iraq military advisers to warn against changing strategy it is reported that “US Ambassador Ryan Crocker who has been less forthcoming then Gen. David Patreus in advance of his testimony, will join Petreus in pushing for maintaining the U.S. troop surge, seeing it as the only viable option to prevent Iraq and the region from plunging into further chaos…” This is reported by Matthew Lee of the Associated Press.

Furthermore, in this same story it is reported that Crocker and Petreus are expected to say that the “buildup of 30,000…has achieved some success and is working better than any previous effort to quell the insurgency and restore stability….”

My observation from the above story are how much are we going to give the Iraqis, when will the Iraqis start to take care of themselves, and what are American interest in Iraq.

I do not think America needs Iraq. However, Sadam Huessien needed to be neutralized and since the USA must keep an image of honor and integrity in order to be respected in the world America should follow through on helping the people of Iraq pursue their self-determination.

The story Thompson urges no letup in combating radicals reports on some statements Thompson made in Iowa. This story is attribute to Mike Glover of the Associated Press.

The first quote to catch my eye was “Republican Fred Thompson said Saturday that people around the world are looking for any signs the U.S. is relenting in combating Islamic radicals”.

This story goes on to quote Thompson as saying “We must send a message to friends and foes alike that we are determined.” In addition, the story reports that Thompson called”…for a stepped-up effort in the global fight against terrorism.”

Thompson is also quoted as saying “ We are in a conflict with people who are trying to get their hands on the most destructive weapons know to man”.

By George, I think he has it. This is good cause I thought his whole campaign was going to be on what Bush has done wrong. In my opinion, the only thing wrong Bush has done is be elected in a time when Americans are taking back their thoughts and emotions from the liberal news and the liberal news, which thinks it controls America, does not want to relinquish power.

The next story is also about power struggles. For decades, politicians and police have been placating the Hispanics by not persecuting them when they deserve it. In the story titled Harris County changes migrant arrest policy attribute to the Associated Press it is reported that a practice of letting people pay before going to court and not having to report their immigration status is going to change.

“Non-arrest bonds are sometimes given in cases when warrants are issued for relatively minor crimes” and “By paying them, suspects avoid being booked in to jail-and being asked about their citizenship” are two quotes from the story.

This change is reported to come about after a man who is an illegal alien and “ was free on a $1,500 ‘non-arrest’ bond …for allegedly shaking his wife” …”was charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter for an interstate crash that killed a young Houston couple and a 2-year-old boy”.

To me this is a further example of politicians and authorities refusing to respect the American citizen. No lets any who wants just walk to their home and take what they want.

How come business people, politicians, migrant special interest groups, and bleeding heart liberal citizens think is okay to let illegal immigrants come in to this country and just take what they want?
