Congress Encourages Illegal Immigration
Published on March 29, 2006 By jesseledesma In Politics

This entry is on the current immigration debate in the USA. On all debates it is important to me to be fair and correct as I possibly can.

I was born in Mexico. At age four my family came over to the American side. I am grateful they did.

In my opinion Mexico has become a cesspool of corruption and violence. The politicians keep making news for how much they steal. News reporters are constantly gunned down. We keep hearing of complete American families being found tied, gaged, and shot in the back of the head.

In the neighboring city to the city I live you have to fear law enforcement more than the criminals. These so called police officers make it a practice of stopping people and taking their money and property.

I believe things have gotten so bad because Mexicans are not taking care of their country. In my opinion it is the responsibility of every citizen of a country to make their government function in the manner they want it too function.

Like in America to many Mexicans are apathetic and completely uninterested. I say they have bad attitude and do not care.

Don't get me wrong. There are people involved in Mexican politics. These people fall in to several groups. There are criminals, people with money agendas, and do-good citizens trying to make a difference.

Unfortunately, there are not enough do-good citizens to make a big enough difference.

I wonder if the American government takes away Mexican people's escape from their own responsibilities will they go home and fix their own country? They risk life and limb to come to the USA, but quickly turn their back on their own country for a quick buck.

In addition, people divide this issue in to many categories. Some say it is inhumane to deny opportunities to people who are just looking to earn enough to feed themselves and their families.

USA has a major problem with homelessness but some people prefer to feed strangers from another country. This does not make sense.

I see the US government's attempt at allowing 11million illegal immigrants access to permanent residency and/or citizenship as stupid.

It makes them legal residents. It also allows them access to welfare. Right now most of labor workers from Mexico- illegal or not- earn here and send their money home. I talk to them almost on a daily basis and most of them complain about being separated from their families.

The reason they survive economically is because they can send their money in to Mexico. If they had to provide for their families here in the USA they couldn't do it on what they earn.

However, give them the opportunity to keep their jobs and provide for their families here in the USA and what do you think is going to happen?

I say they sneak in their families before the new law is signed, apply for legitimate residency for themselves and their families, and then go to the welfare office.

Now how do these opportunities discourage people from other countries from sneaking in to the USA?
