Why Republicans May Keep Control of The Congress.
Published on October 7, 2006 By jesseledesma In US Domestic
There was a time in America that it was unheard of to talk about holding the poor and immigrants accountable for their actions.

The news media and liberals would play it of as being insensitive to their plights.

Then people started working and answering for them selves and government dependency lowered in what used to be liberal dominated issues.

Now you have decreasing welfare, food stamps, and other social programs; not to mention the new debate on immigration, which includes steel fences, the National Guard, and prison terms for people in the country illegally.

Who would of thought that in a span of ten years things would of changed so much?

Well when government does not respond, people begin to do for themselves. In my opinion, people have been doing for themselves and government dependency has decreased.

Therefore, all this talk about the republicans loosing control of the congress may be a little too much dreaming.

People outside of Washington D.C. do not think like people in the “beltway”. For the most part I would say that the people who plan to vote are going to vote for people who appear to have their values.

People have their own 401ks, medical insurance, homes, quality relationships with their children, and are even investing. Why would they elect people that are going to come in to office and tax and spend them to death? I am talking about democrats.

Yes, there are people who are struggling. I say they struggle because of lack of organization and a susceptibility to selling pitches.

We all have dreams, aspirations, and desires. The key is to have a plan of action and take it one step at a time.

In my opinion, to many people want instantaneous gratification and commercials that promise anything and everything seduce them in to buying stuff they cannot really afford. This is the susceptibility to selling pitches I mentioned earlier.

Unfortunately many of these people do not vote. For the most part they are to stressed out to know the who, what, where, and why of politics.

People who have managed to earn their life, however, do vote and they tend to vote for people that will respect their sacrifice: republicans.

Hence all this talk about republicans disappointing their base and are going to lose this base support is in my opinion a lot of democrat wishing thinking.

Yes, the republicans have failed on immigration, tax reform, education, healthcare, and even homeland security.

Many American people, however, have not failed in all of these endeavors and they plan to keep them.

Sorry, I've heard too many Republicans, myself included, say they are so fed up with these people and Bush and not having their values represented that they intend to vote Democrat. (With one state exception, I'm voting the straight Democratic ticket -- then probably leaving the Republican party before the next election.)

The Republicans have failed in almost everything. Only those further toward the extreme right continue to support Bush. (Mock polls all you want Conservative idiots, that's why your time is over.) The average person wants Bush neutered. People are having to do for themselves because of government failures, all right (see Minutemen, et al) -- and they don't like it.

It's not that anyone thinks the Dems are going to do better -- we're just tired of the ones who are now doing nothing.

The House is lost to Republicans.

The only question now is what happens in the Senate.

This is the only part of your article that I have to strongly disagree with. While there are some who may fit this description there are a good many others who struggle for far different reasons, many out of their control. I recently spent a year laid up due to an accident. I struggled and still struggle due to this. It certainly isn't due to a lack of organization or a susceptibility to selling pitches. Sometimes shit happens.

This is hilarious. I'm glad to see someone still has a sense of humor and isn't afraid to show it.
