For a long time the Iraq security forces have been trained for service. The fact that there is serious violence in Iraq has to do with Iraq security personnel being interested in serving a loyalty to tribal gangs then to serving the citizens of Iraq.

The previous described condition is an Iraq problem. However, it is very smart of the president to not tip his hand as far as what he is going to do in Iraq. If the president told the Iraqis that they had 8 months to get it in gear, you can bet violence would escalate during those eight months.

To me it is not strange that a month to congressional elections in America is also finding more violence in Iraq. Enemies of America and Iraq watch CNN and know they can influence the political dynamic in America.

As for the administration of the war, today wars are not fought on the battlefield. They are fought in the court of public opinion. The news media for a long time has put low monetary budget, low casualty, and not making things worse as measures of success in war.

Therefore, you need to fight a monetary lean war, reduce casualties, and show that you are actually helping the people of the country you invaded. Sending the amount of troops, with the hardware, they were sent with, and promising reconstruction would of accomplished these goals.

The media also likes to audiences for the commercials they play during their news programs. Therefore, I think they create stories that will draw attention; as the war in Iraq is going bad.

Now as for the lead up to the war, the president would of being irresponsible if he did not do anything about Saddam considering the news security environment the attacks on the New York Twin Towers put America in today.

Saddam gassed people in Iraq. He gassed people in Iran. He invaded Kuwait for no good reason. For twelve years, he thumbed his nose at the United Nations Security Council. In 1996, the UN inspectors documented a certain amount of biological and chemical weapons in Iraq. Just a small amount could wipe out many Americans if set free in the USA.

Had president George Bush left Iraq alone and Saddam sold WMD’s to AL Qaeda that AL Qaeda used to attack America Mr. Bush would of being responsible for all the consequent deaths.

People say Saddam considered Al Qaeda a threat. He may have. However, he also hated America. I am sure he would not of stopped short of entering in business agreements with Osama to harm the USA. This would not require a brotherhood relationship, just an exchange of money and material goods.

Many leaders hate the U.S. If we were to go to war just because their leaders wished us harm we would be at war all over the world. Our Intelligence knew that Saddam had no current nuclear program. There was intelligence that said it was doubtful that Saddam had a current Bio operation. The only area that most Intelligence agreed was that Saddam had some old Artillery shells filled with gas. How were they a danger to the U.S.? The Military assessment of Saddam was that he could only conduct military operations in the central section of Iraq because of the no- fly zones in the north and south. The U N Inspectors were back in Iraq and in time would have learned what we know today -Saddam did not have WMD!

How was such a person such a danger that it warranted the United States invading a Moslem country? There were countries in March 2003 that were a far greater danger to the U.S. then Iraq-- i.e. North Korea and Iran. Some of our intelligence was wrong. However there was a lot of Intelligence that was available that said Saddam was not the danger Bush and Cheney claimed. How were the mushroom clouds to appear when we knew Saddam had no nuclear weapons?

Now we have enabled the factions within Iraq to bring the sectarian violence to a boil and have enabled foreign terrorist groups like al quad to operate in Iraq which was NOT the case under Saddam. How has this war made America Safer?
