Response to an email identified as coming from Paypal
Published on October 18, 2006 By jesseledesma In Internet
Ever since all this conflict with muslins and mexican immigrants started I have been concerned about the possible back lash from govenment entities and private companies against people of race.

About a week ago I recieved an email from some one claiming to work for PAYPAL. The emial is listed here after my respnse.

I am about as non-consequential as you can get. The american government has no case against me and no reason to fear me.

The email claims they are taking the action they are taking because of their cooperation with American federal govenment. Since I know I am of no consequence to any one, the only reason I can see for this email is my spanish last name.

Let me tell you I have very little patience for biggots and racist. Thats why I wrote the respnse I did to the email that was left as a contact email.

I post it here as a reminder of how easy it is to judge people just on superficial basis such as name and birth place.

MY RESPONSE
This is a response to an email that stated in its content that my account with your company is frozen because of cooperation with the American federal government.

I cannot see any reason why the American governemt would have any problem with me.

The only reason I can see that adminsitrators and/or staff of Paypal and Ebay may have trouble with me may be my spanish last name.

This is my response to your request for information to verify my identity.

Keep your racist and biggoted attitudes to your self. I neither need paypal nor Ebay.

I not will spend any of my money at comapnies that hold such racist attitudes.

EMAIL IN QUESTION

Dear jesus lopez,

PayPal as a regulated financial services company is required under law
to assess its customers against certain lists of individuals and
entities which have had sanctions imposed against them. PayPal as a
financial institution is required to comply with these regulations in
multiple jurisdictions where we do business.

the account and request further identifying documentation. The decision
to lock your account has been taken solely by PayPal in line with its
compliance policy in regards to the legislation covering financial
sanctions

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, however, in order to
regain access to your account, please follow these instructions and
provide the requested documentation within the next seven (7) days:

1. Provide a copy of a government-issued photograph identification
(i.e. passport, driver's license) that provides date of birth; AND
2. Provide a copy of a utility bill verifying your address; AND
3. Include your email address on all copies; AND

I'll bet my left testicle a mouse-over of the email link will show some quaint obscure redirection just as all those emails from YOUR BANK do.

For sure, not all links contained in emails lead to the displayed address. My (heavily into music) nephew got an email with a link supposedly to a major guitar manufacturers site, but when he clicked on it he was taken to a porn site advertising videos with musical titles. According to Keiron, quite a few of his musically inclined friends have also been targetted with this kind of thing, so one would imagine false links are common practice among scammers, advertisers, etc.

I wouldn't say for sure this Paypal thing is a scam, given the various new laws that have been implemented, but I would advise those who receive such emails to contact the company on a known phone number or address with any concerns, rather than reply to emails whose origin cannot be 100% determined.

Even if this isn't a scam (and it really looks like one) I don't see why its racist ?! If the federal government has decided to grab the assets of a criminal it shouldnt be hard to prove that you are not the same person.
Although that is why this stinks of phishing as Paypal would need to associate you with the other Jesus, by address or bank account, the federal government can't just pick a criminals name and grab anything from everyone with the same name, the cops would have been at the door first, ITS A SCAM ignore it ! or go to your Paypal account and ask them, and stop being paranoid, unless you keep your life savings in paypal what do you have to worry about ?

Now that's dumb. This has to do with illegal money laundering and anti-terrorist legislation, not child porn. Did you bother to read any of the conversation here before running off at the mouth?

Obviously not.

Yes I did!

Did you read the article I posted? IT is a valid reason for the post I made - stop being a twat.

you do realize a new reply doesn't 'edit' your old reply?

yes I am aware of that thanks Bichur, I only made on reply, which I wrote then changed midway and posted, so I do not know how this happened but it did, so it is there.

Perhaps it is as well, because it is what I 1st intended replying before I decided to change it and be calmer in my reply. I initially rose to her flag waving then decided against it and changed it then pressed submit, what happened do not know. It is not important anyway.

I am willing to bet that the email didn't even come from PayPal and you've just been scammed into providing verification of your email address to spammers. You've probably been suckered.

My feeling as well. The first indication is that there is no last name or signature in the closing of your email. You need to get ahold of PayPal and verify the email was acctually sent by them.

Where racism is concerned: As you know, this country has quite a problem with foreign peoples living unlawfully on US soil. If you are an illegal alien living in the US, the US has all the right to investigate/prosecute and/or deport you within constraints of US law. This is actually anti-descrimination in that it protects descrimination of US citizens from losing benefits otherwise given to unlawful residents. But in any event, it's not racism.

Its more likely a scam. If not, and you are a US citizen, please comply like the rest of us if you want to use PayPal services. If you are in fact an illegal alien, then get yourself either nationalized or a green card. If you cannot do this, I for one would be very happy to see you deported; tax money well spent.

Not if you comply with the current immigration process.

How many countries can you just walk into, live, work, and disrupt that nations tax base, welfare system, employment systems and what-have-you without penalty?

Hmmm, how could someone who's interests are meditation, super strings and conformal field theory possibly find peace and quiet in such a violent country as the US anyway. Guess I'll just find an isolated desert somewhere...
