Consider the alternative.
When you look at it for what it is you have to acknowledge that the president had some very good initiatives from 2004 to the present.
I am in agreement that social security, illegal immigration, and terrorism are the great American challenges of our time.
According to the SSI office if I reach 70 years of age, I can expect a whole 667 dollars. One, I don’t think I will live that long and two I couldn’t make it on such a small amount today, much less pay for a life that is going to cost 300 percent more than it does today when and if I ever get to receive this money.
I was messing around with an investment calculator and figured out that if I put 1,200 dollars every year in account with 5 percent annual interest in forty years I could have 119,000 dollars.
One hundred thousands dollars on a monthly interest rate of 5 percent yields 5,000 dollars.
I would rather save up a hundred grand, continue to work, and continue to accrue wealth than receive a miserable 667 dollars a month.
As for illegal immigration, it is a big problem. Education, healthcare, crime, and many other social elements are negatively effected by illegal immigration.
As for there not being labor to replace illegal immigrants if they were to be removed from the USA, some estimate that on average there are about 2 million homeless in this country ever year.
Why not instead of feeding, clothing, sheltering, policing, curing, and counseling do we not expect the homeless to earn their keep, even it means grueling hard labor?
In addition, there are supposed to be on average 6.5 million people unemployed in America.
See I already found 8 million potential replacements for the 12 million illegal immigrants that may be required to leave the country if the American congress ever gets a backbone.
As for terrorism, it was around before the current president got in office and their attacks have been getting worse and more frequent. I do not think Iraq did anything to motivate terrorist to attack America.
Not dealing with terrorist will make them confident and more predisposed to attack America.
The problem of course is that there has been a republican majority and a republican president and a lot has not been accomplished.
Many republicans preferred to be scared by the news media in to in-action then to meet their moral obligation to the people of America.
Neither any one nor I should be paying for social services for people of another country.
Not establishing strict controls to combat terrorist leaves America in a very vulnerable position.
Any fool who is waiting to retire on social security only has himself or herself to blame.
However, what do you do? Even when the republicans are in charge they cannot perform for the American people.
Well I say the democrats will only make things worse. You may not like voting republican but consider the alternative.
