And an Apology for the President
I have said it before people of the modern world are going to have to provide police services for them selves.
Everything we see to me points to a very low functioning human condition. In El Paso, Texas I call police officer demented little children with rage and anger problems.
In my opinion, these so called peace officers do not know the American constitution nor have any interest in learning it.
In fact I have observed an us (police officer) against them (disruptive citizen) mentality which leads to resentment and police looking for opportunities to act out on this resentment.
I cannot know how police act in your city. I do know that what I saw university police doing to that person in the library lab is appalling and in my opinion evidence that police, like every one else, are having a hard time functioning regularly.
As far as what I can tell, everything started because the person in question at the library refused to show his ID card to the library staff, which led to the community officers being called and consequently the campus police.
For the most part, I would say that cooperation is always a good policy. However, from personal experience I can tell you that cooperating will not necessarily keep you from having your right violated by law enforcement officers.
It sad to think that we are entering a time in human history where we will have to travel accompanied and with one person ready to a operate digital camcorder in case the hard case cops come to roust us.
However, I would say that is exactly where we are in this time in human history.
My second point has to with President Bush. It seems I have decided that I owe the president sort of an apology.
Mr. Rumsfeld was a hard working warrior and you just do not throw such a faithful servant to the wolfs.
I fear the president’s actions may be because of the attitudes from the Republican Party. In fact, I think the Republican Political Party is giving Mr. Bush orders.
Mr. President these people did not support you and your initiatives. In my opinion, they were to caught up in saving their own political bacon. You really do not owe them anything.
When I heard of Mr. Rumsfeld’s resignation I was sick to my stomach. I could not believe a man I supported could act so callously for political expediency.
The republicans and the democrats may not get it. However, many of us out here in the sticks get it very well.
Rumsfeld demanded resignation and the consequent appeasement attitude from the president to the democrats made things appear as if it all really is a political game.
Well I do not play politics. My ideas and emotions on the Iraq and terrorism issues are real.
However, I can understand that being caught between the republicans and democrats maybe more pressure than the average person can handle.
Moreover, let me say you are not their president. You are our president. The man that believes like us and values what we value.
Hence, I offer my apology to the president for having judged him to quickly.
In addition, I ask that you live according to your principles. The democrats may think they can have it all.
However, we all know that unless you sign Mr. President they wont get anything. The man that I supported would fight to the end.
Therefore, I hope that you will make it as difficult as possible for these democrats.
