SPIRITUALITY
On the question of God today I heard a person say that is not godly as they were lambasting Michael Richards for his psychosis at a comedy club.
I do not know how people who are not Christian can invoke God’s name. In relation to God, Dr. Phil is having on his the Dr. Phil House 2 twins who have been living on the streets and selling their bodies for illegal drugs.
The twin who was on the streets (one just got of jail) remarked when asked about her feelings of selling her body for sex, “it’s like…selling your soul”. Very profound and deep for some one who has spent the last ten years of her life living in hell.
In addition, before you start criticizing, I am not a proponent of the Dr. Phil show. I consider him a menace to society.
He is abusive, rude, never defines the problem, and offers no constructive solutions. In fact, I find it offensive that we would parade these people with so much hardship in front of the cameras for the sake of his ratings.
Having said all this, I feel for these two young women and hope greatly that they get their lives in order and start living decent enjoyable lives.
My last point on spirituality is that Dr. Phil may be able to offer them counseling and get them to a better life. However, if they never accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, like many of us, a bad future awaits them.
Most people do not realize they are immortal and they are either going to spend eternity in hell or heaven.
COUNTRY
My meditations today on all the political ramblings in America to day have to do with the 60 percent who had something better to do. I guess Survivor most of been at a climax.
I did some stats and this is what I came up with:
The demos won by very small margins. I would say that the vote distribution was 21 percent demos and 19 percent repos. To me this means that 21 percent (the so called majority) is going to try to make choices for them selves and the 79 percent that are left.
I know the demos politicized the war to win their elections. They are liars and murderers. I do not expect much of them.
However, what do you tell people who are to busy to get involved in the most challenge time in American history.
I know that Americans are going to live to regret not having been involved in this last political election.
I see a very severe terrorist attack looming on America’s horizon. I want to see what these apathetic citizens will say when their friends and family members become victims of terrorist. What indignation will they be able to offer?
THE INIDIVIDUAL
For the individual I offer strategies to over come challenges.
Crisis stress people out and stressed out people struggle with thinking and emotion management. A good first step would be relaxing.
Second, I say identify the problem. To many times we think something is a problem but it really is just a manifestation of our fear and an over active imagination.
Then it would be good to identify who is at fault. Remember, we only control our behavior. We may want something from some one else. However, they have the option of cooperating or not.
People do not like this part. If you have been honest with some one and they do not respond in the matter you would like then to, you are going to have to decide how much you are willing to put up with in this relationship.
Of course, not all problems are interpersonal. You will find that sometimes we fight we our selves just to accomplish simple task. Hence, even though there isn’t another person we are the other combatant.
Therefore, “reality perspective taking” is important in solving problems. You have to know what is real and what is good to desire.
Much of what we desire is actually not good for us.
Then there has to be review of progress. We should evaluate our efforts in trying to solve problems.
Another helpful hint is to replace the word problem with challenge.
