In an article that appeared on the MSNBC web site titled Contractors accused of firing on civilians, Gis and subtitled Huge private force operates in Iraq with little supervision or accountability which only list the AP as the author purports to talk about the atrocities by private contractors in Iraq. It is my opinion that since they have not being to tumble Bush by their continuous negative reporting on the administration of the war the liberal agenda driven news is now going to try finding anything and everything that is wrong in Iraq.

Human nature is wicked. In stressful times human are capable of many misjudgments, overreactions, and willful disrespect for human life. This is neither a flaw of the president nor a statement against the many accomplishments in Iraq.
This week it was reported that the UN has voted to return to Iraq. To me this speaks of the positively changing security question in Iraq. Now, the Iraq government is seen as legitimate and capable of functioning. Notice, I did not say perfect. Which government is perfect?

Now this article also has the following statements “They operate with little or no supervision, accountable only to the firms employing them. And as the country has plummeted toward anarchy and civil war, this private army has been accused of indiscriminately firing at American and Iraqi troops, and of shooting to death an unknown number of Iraqi citizens who got too close to their heavily armed convoys.”

I have a problem with the statement they operate with little or no supervision. My problem here is that the author his or her self states “they are accountable only to the companies that employ them”.

Now what do we know about companies. They are in business to make money. I am sure there are grave actions by some civilian contractors. However, the reality is that any company has a lot to loose if it does not operate well. Bad contractors have their contracts canceled.

Another problem I have with this article is that it continues to stick in the rusty knife of negative criticism of the war. Here I am speaking about this quote…”And as the country has plummeted toward anarchy and civil war,”
Hasn’t this writer heard of the people reporting that the security question in Iraq is changing for the better?

On another note it is being reported that Mitt Romney won the Iowa straw poll. What I find interesting is that this a poll were anyone who pays $35 can enter and cast a ballot and that many of the campaigns bought tickets for their supporters. How can a poll were the candidates paid for people to vote for them be taken seriously?

To win 2008 a republican candidate is going to have to deal with the issues that surfaced in Bush’s reign, such as privatization of social security, school vouchers, strict immigration enforcement, personal responsibility in healthcare insurance, war on terror, and the others.

In addition, this republican candidate is going to have to appease the Christians who were awakened and participated in great numbers to elect Mr. Bush. I have already said that the only religious test I have for a conservative candidate is that they not be in direct opposition to my faith.

Mr. Romney calls himself a Christian. In my opinion no person who believes that Christ is the brother of satan is a Christian. Moreover, in my opinion, no one who can have such a personal part of his private life such as faith be ruled by a superstitious cult is not fit to run the most important country on the face of the planet. I find this fact as a serious personality flaw.

In addition, I am not happy with any of the republican candidates, even the LA Law Thompson. Some one with a real conservative background needs to step up fast, before we are left with Giuliani and Romney.

I'm not sure just how devout Mr. Romney is, as many Christians order off the menu ala carte, mixing and matching elements of the religions they claim to be followers of.  Either way, I'd be inclined to give him a little benefit of the doubt based on his past governance and how he has acted as a chief executive when given opportunities to do so.

On the other hand, I'm not enthralled with any of the current slate of candidates either.  None of the declared candidates excite me and make me want to vote for them.  Sure, I'm inclined to vote against most of the Democrats, but may not be that concerned if someone not named Hillary is the nominee on the other side.

I just don't see any of these folks as great leaders with grand plans and platforms that I feel will be that helpful to the U.S.A. or to me.

Pretty heavy handed judgement from someone who believes some dude 2000 years ago died on a cross was lifted up and came back to life...oh and that that guy is his own father too....all religious beliefs have a certain element of superstition....be careful about the nastiness you throw, it could land right back on you.

Maybe instead of criticizing personal beliefs, we should focus on actions and ability to conduct business. I'm not fond of any particular person as of now, but I don't criticize Mormons, Catholics or Jews because of their faith....I criticize them individually for being imbiciles who are unfit to run this nation.

I second what lifehappens said. I'm not a big fan of the Mormon church, but I've never been run out of a Mormon church. Can't say the same about the Baptists.

Why is it everyone seems to think they have a corner on the salvation market? Seems like they're in dangerous territory, if you ask me!

To lifehappens and Gideon Macliesh there is but one truth. Not because i say so. However, because the One powerful enough to create a universe is also powerful enough to find the way to communicate with His creation.

This was is the Bible which does not say that Jesus Christ and the devil are brothers.

One, Jesus, you're not schooled enough on the Bible to speak on it with any authority at all.

Two, you are DEFINITELY not schooled enough on Mormonism to speak on it with any authority at all. Over the years as a Christian, I have heard misstatements to outright lies said about the LDS church, and while there is no love lost between me and the church, I do NOT appreciate attacks based on lies on anyone.

Now, it is true the LDS teaches that Jesus and the devil are brothers. It is also true that that is one area of doctrine where I part ways with the LDS church. But unlike you I don't claim to have the ultimate knowledge to refute this teaching of the LDS church.

superstitious cult

Just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside . . . I love when people call my faith a "cult", as if theirs is not just as cult-like.

the devil

is however called the angel of light.

and if we are all children of god. and 1/3 of the host of heaven fall from heavon before or after the earth was formed. wouldn't they also be children of god. and if they and christ are children of god. wouldn't christ and lucifer be brothers. for that matter wouldn't you and christ also be brothers.

It seems to me you just did to Romney and the LDS church what you accuse the press of doing to Prs. Bush and Iraq.

But out West a lot of the Mormons would rinse off the ketchup and mustard, insisting you use Fry Sauce. ;~D
