Not necessarly a Christian blessing.

Today I will speak on the Values Voters Conference sponsored by the Family Research Council and which the republican contenders for the 2008 presidential nomination spoke at over this weekend.

I will first start by identifying the Family Research Council. On their website they identity them selves as individuals who believe:
·
God exists and is sovereign over all creation. He created human beings in His image. Human life is, therefore, sacred and the right to life is the most fundamental of political rights.
·
Life and love are inextricably linked and find their natural expression in the institutions of marriage and the family.
·
Government has a duty to promote and protect marriage and family in law and public policy.
·
The American system of law and justice was founded on the Judeo-Christian ethic.
·
American democracy depends upon a vibrant civil society composed of families, churches, schools, and voluntary associations.

Notice they mention Judeo Christian but not the Christian Evangelical Message. The Christian Evangelical Message is the God came to earth in the form of a man called Jesus and belief in this Jesus brings salvation from an eternity in hell with the promise of an eternity in heaven.

For this “evangelical message” is a statement of faith that validates a person’s allegiance to God. Since there is no direct reference to Jesus and the Christian Evangelical Message is missing, I would not consider this organization as a Christian organization.

I make this point because the point of the republicans presidential candidates being at this “values conference” is that this candidates will be talking to social conservatives (and by implication Christian Conservatives) and explaining their values.

A web site cited a poll at this event that showed among the candidates Mitt Romney as the most favored over the rest.

Again under no circumstances do I consider Mormons Christians. The mere fact that this people at this “values conference” would choose Mitt also makes me wonder about their allegiance to Jesus.

Now, why I am being such a pain about who is a real Christian. Again, you will not find a true Christian turning his or her back on God. I have said this before and I will say it again, “supporting a candidate who supports abortion is just like turning our back on God”.

God saved us Christian from the misery that was our lives. His love is the only reason we have a chance at something decent. Knowing Jesus and his sacrifice for us generates love in our hearts for all. How can we stand and watch murder when we were close to death, yet he, with love, concern, and care saved us with his blood?

I heard Giuliani say that he would rather tell people the truth about his values than change for political expediency. This to me means he is a supporter of abortion and is not going to change.

Social conservatives who are not much into Jesus may not have a problem choosing a person from a false religion (Mitt Romney) or a person who supports killing unborn children (Giuliani). Christians, however, will never make that choice.

I honestly do not see how a republican candidate without the support of the Christian conservatives can win in 2008.

I agree.....that's why the Christians must all support Huckabee. He's the only candidate I know that completely supports what a Christian believes in.

If all the Christians got together and voted for Huckabee he'd be a shoo in. He's liked by Christians and non-Christians alike. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he's warm and engaging oozing with integrity. The problem is...the media will never go for it. They've already got President Hillary Clinton lined up for the big party in Jan 09.

I wouldn't be surprised if the invitiations were ready to be mailed soon.
