(u) POLITICS/RELIGION (u/)
Well today a very strange thing happened. Pat Robertson, a television evangelist from the 700 Club, endorsed Rudy Giuliani for president.
Let me say that Mr. Robertson is one individual and does not speak for all Christians. I find it troubling that any Christian would endorse any person who believes women have the right to kill their unborn child.
However, Mr. Robertson has made his decision. I hope he knows that we serve God not man. In addition, I personal will never have anything to do with Mr. Robertson or any organization he represents.
As for the republican field, it is still anyone game. My greatest fear is that Giuliani is chosen and wins the presidency. To me this will represent a mockery of everything the conservative movement has stood for in America.
Obviously life, marriage, hard work, lean government, and fiscal responsibility no longer mean anything in America.
(u) MENTAL HEALTH (u/)
I am still a firm believer that accepting our reality and being grateful helps a lot in reducing stress.
See our society teaches us to be very negative and vicious. All we see and hear are negative messages. These messages make us feel harsh emotions.
In addition, not having out needs met in a healthy manner during our development leaves us feeling angry, frustrated, resentful, and/or sad, if not suffering from a verifiable mental health illness.
The thing to keep in mind is that we are in charge of our thoughts. We can either focus on the positive or we can obsess on the negative.
The negative leads to profound emotions. Organizing a life under the health and realistic perspective leads to solace and joy.
Behavior is the result of emotions that are created by our thoughts. Therefore, if we want to have control and start doing what will contribute to our peace and personal success then we should structure our thoughts so they lead to the good emotions that can lead to productive behaviors.
This would include taking inventory of our skills and resources and setting goals and “plans of action” to achieve our goals.
