Are we superficial cheerleaders?
Published on May 13, 2008 By jesseledesma In Politics

Why is it so easy for politicians to manipulate people?

When you look at McCain, Hillary, and Obama, you may think that they are not sincere in their rhetoric.  I would say that that is a good analysis.  One of my biggest problems with the current political situation in American is that insincere people are managing to grasp the attention of voters.   Makes me wonder about the sincerity of the voter.

A couple of days ago I had a conversation with two men about the current status of Mexican society.  One felt that the failure to educate people in their developmental years about morality was the reason so many Mexicans practice disobedience of the law and purchasing favors from government officials.  The other man felt that government in failing to be respectful was influencing the citizens in their unlawful behavior.

Either way here in stupid El Paso, Texas we are seeing reports of people dying in crossfire from crime syndicates trying to kill each other. The incidents of gun battles between criminals on the streets of Juarez, which is El Paso's border neighbor, have increased.   This area looks like those third world regions were gun battles break out every second.

I bring this point up in this article because it is a sign of how bad things have gotten in the human spirit.  We have all seen the failure of the Myanmar government to help its own citizens.  Today, I saw that wild fires may of been deliberately set in Florida.  A closed of society like China is struggling with a devastating earthquake and the Chinese people appear to be angry at western journalist there trying to cover the story.  Seven bombs went of in India, killing over fifty people.  Last month the news was about that Mormon sect were old men were marrying under age girls and getting them pregnant.

Under what sense of morality does a man think it is alright to marry an under age girl, much less more than one?  I see no Biblical reason for it.  I see no religious reason for it.  I definitely don't see any healthy psychological reason for it.

The only conclusion I can come to is that there is something seriously wrong with humans.  McCain, Hillary, and Obama are not honest people, in my opinion.  Of course we know about Hillary and Obama's lies.  However, why are the people not reacting negatively to these lies?  Are we all just like conniving politicians who will do anything to get elected?

My point to the both men I spoke to about Mexico's worsening morality was that is the citizen that forms a government and maintains that government.  I guess if things are bad in America it is because we have made them bad.  Either we made a direct contribution to mess, or by not doing anything we made and indirect contribution.  See, not voting means the other guy gets a vote.

I guess today my "point to ponder" is were is our sincerity?  Politicians can say anything they want.  However, why do we get all worked up about supporting them?  Mr. McCain is being hounded about some comments Pastor John Hague made about the Catholic church.  Now, the press wants to equate Pastor Hague to Pastor Jeremia right.

Let me tell you I have heard both Pastors speak and Mr. Hague is an intelligent and faithful speaker on scripture who speaks to educate, not fuel hate.  The Bible talks about a one world religion at the "end times".  Many Bible scholars, not just pastor Hague, believe that the church that will have the Anti-Christ at its head in the "end times" will be the Catholic church.  If McCain was a sincere person he would be able to explain why Pastor Hague's comments are different than Jeremia Wrights.  However, McCain is afraid of the liberal news and like all politicians prefers not to be made to look bad.

However, if you remain blind and not willing to educate your self you will serve the wrong God.  Is that our problem?  We want to remain blind and ignorant.  I do not want to remain blind nor ignorant.  In addition, I know it is better to inspire people to be responsible for them selves, then make them slaves to government hand outs.

I was thinking today, "Don't I have a responsibility not to become a burden to my neighbor?"  The question is yes.  I am able to work and earn the money necessary to pay my way in life.

Therefore, what can we make of people who are capable of taking care of them selves, asking the government to provide for them.  Hillary and Obama are making promises to the people that they will take care of them.  The reality is that the president does not have that power.  All politicians like money from donations.  Go against the people who donate to political campaigns and they will not donate to your campaign.   Hence, Hillary and Obama know they cannot make the laws to provide Americans with free medical care and debt relief.  In order, for these two to do that they will have to get the support of congress people and these congress people will not risk their political fortunes by upsetting their donors.

Yet, the people buy these lies.  I see people interviewed by news agencies respond that they voted for whoever they voted for because of the lies these politicians told.  Hillary knows there can be no windfall tax on oil companies.  No oil person will make a donation to her campaign or any congress person's campaign that supports such a policy.  The smart person knows that we need to close military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq soon or China will own the US.  The money to fight these wars in coming from loans from China.  See, Obama there is no 4 billion a day in the US treasury that can be given to the poor, unless you want to see America in debt to the Chinese.

I guess I still have not answered my question.  There is something in the modern man that does not want to tackle big issues.  In addition, through years of cultural condition people are trained to react in a certain way in to politics.  In the modern world it seems the way to deal with politics is to turn it in to a game and cheer for your team.  This is very superficial and dangerous.
