WalMart, Toys R Us, Lego, compUSA, and more.
Today, I did not listen to all the conservative radio host I usually listen to in my day. There was enough business to keep me busy. As I sit here writing this BLOG entry I realize that it may actually be to my advantage not have listened to Bill Benet, Laura Ingraham, and Rush Limbaugh.
We all know that from the second we wake up to the second we go to sleep we are bombarded by talking heads with their so-called wisdom. We turn on the radio and the speaker is telling us the news. The same of the TV and internet. However, nowadays it is more commentary then news.
I wonder what I would of considered the big issue of the day if I had paid attention. Maybe, some one has miraculously solved the economic crisis. I know ,some one found the recipe for world peace. Madonna and Britney spear got married. Hum! What can people be talking about?
Well, no matter what the politicians, business people, and/or rich and famous are doing we have to keep keeping on. Yesterday, I had a conversation with some one from a very liberal country, Spain. I was telling him about my problems with Obama.
When I mentioned that raising taxes on the rich to give to the poor and middle class amounts to theft, he responded, “it is not theft it is helping the poor”. Well it is theft, because one group is being held to a different standard: i.e. the poor not working and pulling their own weight.
However, what struck me more was the question I asked myself after the conversation. This question was “what is the value of a person’s work?” If the end result of hard work, is not “gain”, then what is the incentive to work? Not to mention if work looses its incentive, then work itself looses its value. Why work if there is not going to be any pay off?
Tell me right now with Obama’s attitude towards the rich and successful what is the incentive to work? We should all work for work’s sake and to pay more taxes, which will be given to people who cannot manage their lives appropriately. I just do not see the incentive in that.
Furthermore, is there a great risk of resentment by the successful towards the unsuccessful? I started working when I was ten years old with a paper route in Eugene Oregon. I have not always seen work as something valuable. However, today, at my 42 years of old age, I have a healthy respect for work.
Work, not only gives you money, it provides you with purpose. Well it suppose to. However, by now every one should of gathered that my impression of modern man is not that great. Modern man was wasting time watching the Olympics, instead of doing his job. This reaches beyond the ethical and immoral. It speaks greatly of the character of modern man.
I know there are many great workers in America. Life could not continue if we were all slackers. However, the pendulum has swung towards the side of people who do not value work and suffer from poor attitude.
Again, I ask why should I be financially responsible for these types of people? I am being asked to pay healthcare for people who smoke, over eat, abuse drugs, fornicate, and practice other high risk behaviors. When I say “fornicate” I am not making a value judgment. Sex leads to STD’s . I am going to have to pay for all of these diseases too.
It just cannot work like Obama thinks. One group of people cannot be allowed to do what they want regardless of circumstances will others are asked to pay the bills. Some where down the line the productive are going to get burned out and stop being productive.
If work will not lead to comfort, joy, and wealth then why work? If no one works, who pays taxes? Better yet if they encourage sloth behavior, who will be maintaining society? Will America become a country of unmotivated slackers?
Now, many may think that this is a non-issue. However, things will change. People will protect them selves from unjust and unfair behavior from government. As I wrote yesterday this will erode the economy and the tax base.
Not to mention human morality and human spirit are at an all time low. In the few minutes I got to listen to Bill Benet I heard him posit whether American morality is low. He and his guest where under the impression that it is not. I attribute this perception do the “ivory tower” effect. Well to do people are up in their castle, spending time with people of their own nature.
I am at street level. I see common man. He is a vulgar slug who with a bad attitude and blames every one else for his problems.
There in lies the problem. For many life was traumatic. This trauma interfered with their maturity development. Now not only do they not know what life is, they also do not know how to get a life. Otherwise they would respect work and follow basic life management techniques.
As a collective, it is not beneficial to allow the group morality to decay to the point that American workers are no longer productive. We also cannot become some kind of metamorphosed society that functions but does not reflect humanity.
